New website makes navigating around the lake easier with TTD

The Tahoe Transportation District has revamped its website allowing viewers quick and easy access to BlueGo, shuttle and trolley transit schedules, current projects, public meetings, blogs and social media. Incline Village-based Smith & Jones designed the website for a more intuitive click through experience with prominent buttons, photographs and maps of the Lake Tahoe Basin.

A preview of the new homepage.

Among the features:

Getting Around Tahoe: This provides direct links to all public and private transit services in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

BlueGo: This feature allows users to click on transit services around the lake, find bus drop off and pick-up locations and times, learn about connections to Carson Valley and Carson City, arrivals and departures of the seasonal ski shuttle services, plus easy-to-use and printer-friendly locator maps with bus schedules and fare information.

Capital Projects: Users can learn which transportation initiatives are in the planning stages and which projects are underway.

America’s Most Beautiful Bikeway: This ongoing, ambitious project is designed to connect existing bicycle and pedestrian trails around Lake Tahoe. The National Scenic Byway is a plan to create a 10-mile scenic stretch between Incline Village and Highway 50. As part of the plans TTD launched the East Shore Express, designed to cut down on parking and traffic related issues between Incline Village and Sand Harbor.

Blogs: Website users will find this feature full of useful information about new and existing public transit services, current road projects and practical tips such as getting better gas mileage from your vehicle and cutting down on emissions.

Facebook: Updated frequently, the TTD Facebook page offers the latest news and features with links to local media, local maps, reader-contributed photographs and updates on projects.  Hit the “Like” button and get up to speed on local transportation-related events, upcoming workshops and to participate in trivia games.
